Dracaena compacta ‘Janet Craig’ is a common houseplant due to its ease of care. It is slow growing and is said to possibly be the slowest growing of all indoor varieties. In time, it can reach around 3-6 feet tall and a great choice for a low to moderate lit area, but will also do well in high lighting. In lower light conditions, this plant will also need less water. In brighter lighting, it can use more water, but in general it is better to keep this plant on the drier side as too much water will cause the plant to rot. A well-draining soil containing a good amount of perlite or lava rock should be used. If it sheds a few bottom leaves over the course of the year, this is normal. If it sheds a few leaves within a few months or so, this is usually a sign of overwatering. USDA Hardiness Zone 9-11

Vivariums/Animal Terrariums: This plant is not recommended for animal vivariums/terrariums due to its large size. It would make a great plant for Chameleons and other animals that need a branching plant/tree for stability and climbing.
